Synopsis:
Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant dust storms. Thats fine by her as long as her beloved twin brother, Lugh, is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives bearing four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured and Saba embarks on a quest to get him back.
Suddenly thrown into a lawless, ugly reality of the world outside, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her so perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself. She's a fierce fighter, and unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack, and a gang of girl revolutionaries called The Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.
Thoughts:
5/5 stars.
This has become one of my favorite books. Ever. I couldn't have gotten through it faster. This is such an awesome, fast paced book with a super kick-ass character.
Saba is quite possibly one of the coolest characters ever. If i could be friends with any book character, it would be her. She is fierce, stubborn, and reminds me a lot like Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy series) with the same determination and strength. And don't get me started on Jack.
Saba meets Jack during her time as a "cage fighter", where guys and girls are set one-on-one against each other, sort of like The Hunger Games... but a little less intense. Jack is a humorous fellow who you instantly want to pull into a kiss. Saba and Jack's romance was intense and pretty sexy. Even though he never speaks during this novel, Nero was a character who left an impression on me. The crow was no ordinary crow. He was pretty much a person stuck in a crow's body. But like, a really smart person.
Moira's writing makes you feel like you're actually there. Her scenes are very intense (very much in one situation involving giant worms with claws *shudders*) and well-thought out. You never expect what's going to happen next.
READ THIS. NOW. MOVE ALONG.
